Privacy Policy
This policy explains what happens to your data when you visit wagamamamenus.uk. It is written to be read rather than to be skimmed past, and it describes what the site actually does today.
The short version
This is a static information website. There is no account to create, no newsletter and no comment section. The only thing that asks you for anything is the contact form, and it asks only for what is needed to reply to you. We count visits with Google Analytics so we can see which pages are useful. Nothing on this site shows you adverts or follows you around other websites.
What we collect
What you choose to send us. The contact form asks for an email address so we can answer you, and for your message. Your name and the dish or page you are writing about are optional, and there is a menu for what the message is about. That is the whole list. We use it to reply and for nothing else: no mailing list, no marketing, no passing it to anyone. Messages are delivered by our hosting provider's form service, which stores the submission so we can read it. If you would rather not use the form, email us directly instead — it reaches the same place.
How the site is used (Google Analytics). We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see how the site is used: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are (country and city), what device and browser they use, how they arrived (for example from a Google search), and things like how far down a page they scroll and which links out they click. It records that the contact form was started or sent, not what you typed into it. Google says Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses: it uses them briefly to work out that rough location, then discards them. We use this to decide what to improve, on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful. We cannot see who you are from it.
Nothing else that identifies you. We do not collect phone numbers, postal addresses or payment details, because nothing on this site asks for them.
Standard server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider records technical information about requests: the page requested, the time, the browser and operating system, and an IP address. This is generated automatically by the web server, is used to keep the site running and secure, and is not used to identify individual visitors.
Preferences stored in your own browser. If the site remembers a choice you made, such as a filter or a light or dark theme, that is stored locally in your browser. It never reaches us and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets two cookies on this site: _ga and _ga_C98TGP5N82. They hold a random identifier, so that a return visit can be told apart from a new one, and they last for up to two years. They do not contain your name, your email address or anything you type. There are no advertising cookies.
We do not currently ask for consent before these cookies are set. If you would rather not be counted, block cookies for this site in your browser settings, use a content blocker, or install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works exactly the same without them.
If we add advertising, we will ask for your consent before any advertising or analytics cookies are set, and this policy will be updated before that happens.
Third parties
Fonts. Typefaces are served from this site itself, not from Google Fonts or any other font service. Loading a page here makes no request to a third-party font server, so no third party receives your IP address that way.
Links out. We link to Wagamama's website and occasionally to other third-party sites. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site, subject to their privacy policy, not ours.
Hosting. The site is served by a hosting provider that processes requests on our behalf and keeps the server logs described above.
Google Analytics. Google provides Analytics and processes the data it collects for us, under Google's data processing terms. That data may be processed in the United States. Google explains what it does with it in how Google uses information from sites that use its services and in its privacy policy.
Children
This site is a restaurant menu guide. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect any information about them.
Your rights under UK GDPR
Even though we hold almost nothing about you, you have rights over any personal data we do process: to be told what we hold, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to have it transferred elsewhere.
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. If you are not satisfied with how we respond, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
How long data is kept
Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for a limited period for security and diagnostics, then deleted. Google Analytics data tied to the cookie identifier is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically. Totals that no longer relate to any one visitor, such as visits per page per month, are kept. Contact form messages are kept while we deal with what you raised and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted; if you want yours removed sooner, ask and we will delete it. We do not maintain any separate database of visitors.
Changes to this policy
If what the site does changes, this policy changes with it, and the date at the top will be updated. Any change that affects what we collect will be made before the change goes live, not after.
