Fancy a chicken katsu without paying full price? The Wagamama student discount gets you 20% off food and drink, Sunday to Thursday, all year, through the Soul Club app. Here's how to unlock it, what your favourite dishes cost after the discount, and when another deal might save you more.
Yes, Wagamama offers students 20% off food and drink from Sunday to Thursday, all year, when they verify their student status through the Soul Club app. There's no voucher code to hunt down, and existing Soul Club members need to verify their student status too.
The catch? Friday and Saturday are out, and you can't combine the discount with the £14 lunch menu or another offer. But if you're heading in for a midweek katsu curry, those savings are well worth a look.
This is Wagamama's own loyalty app, where its student society lives. Already a member? No need to start over.
Follow the student verification steps in the app until you receive your blue tick.
Make sure your student status is verified and ready to show when settling your bill.
No blue tick, no student discount. Existing members aren't automatically verified, so check your app before heading out.
A 20% discount makes a decent dent in the bill, especially if you're ordering a main, a drink and a side. Here's what some popular dishes and combinations cost before and after your discount.
| Order | Normal price | With 20% off | You save |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chicken katsu curry | £14.90 | £11.92 | £2.98 |
| Katsu curry + cloudy lemonade | £19.60 | £15.68 | £3.92 |
| Chilli chicken ramen | £16.40 | £13.12 | £3.28 |
| Chicken gyoza + katsu curry + cloudy lemonade | £28.10 | £22.48 | £5.62 |
| Yasai mushroom yaki soba, the cheapest main | £14.40 | £11.52 | £2.88 |
That gyoza, katsu and lemonade combo saves you £5.62. Enough to make adding a side feel considerably less reckless.
It depends on what you're ordering. Wagamama's weekday lunch set runs Monday to Friday, 11am to 3pm, and gets you one of eight selected mains plus a soft drink or coffee for £14.
You have to choose between the lunch set and the student discount. They can't be combined, and the lunch set doesn't include katsu curry.
Here's the quick rule: if your chosen main and drink would cost less than £17.50 together, the 20% student discount beats paying £14 for the lunch set. At £17.50, the discounted total is exactly £14.
Use our calculator to compare the £14 lunch set with 20% off your main and drink before deciding which deal to claim.
See all eight mains on the Wagamama lunch menu.
Yes, provided your bill reaches the minimum spend. You need to pay £12 or more after the student discount to earn a Soul Club stamp.
That means a chicken katsu curry on its own, discounted to £11.92, falls 8p short. Add a drink and you'll comfortably clear the threshold.
Here's why the stamps are worth collecting:
If you're already paying for a meal, it's worth checking your stamp progress in the app. Just remember that your spend needs to hit £12 after the discount, not before it.
Don't waste your evening scrolling through voucher sites. Student Beans currently says it may not have any exclusive offers with wagamama right now.
There is no Wagamama student discount code for the regular 20% deal. You claim it through the Soul Club app by verifying your student status and showing your blue tick.
Some voucher websites still list old 15% and 20% codes. Don't assume those codes work just because the page is still live.
UNiDAYS currently displays a Request a student offer button for Wagamama, rather than a live discount you can claim.
The page shows 45,837 students have requested an offer. That's a lot of hopeful katsu fans, but a request isn't the same as an available deal.
For an actual student discount right now, use Soul Club to unlock the 20% offer.
Beyond the regular student discount, there are a couple of things worth checking if you're after more than cheaper noodles. For the rest, from Soul Club rewards to the set menus, see the full list of deals.

Wagamama is recruiting 25 student ambassadors. The advertised perk? Ambassadors "enjoy wagamama on us all year long".
If you're the person who gets everyone together for dinner anyway, this one could be worth a look.
Check the recruitment detailsYes, the Wagamama GCSE results day offer has ended. On 20 August 2026, GCSE results day, students could get 25% off food and drink when dining in with a 2026 results certificate.
That was a one-day promotion, not a permanent replacement for the regular student discount. Missed it? The usual 20% off through Soul Club remains available Sunday to Thursday, all year.
There was also a separate offer for a free side with a £12 spend at selected shopping-centre branches, on set dates between 24 September and 6 October 2026. That offer has ended too.
Keep an eye on the app for the next student promotion, but don't plan your dinner around an expired offer.
The 20% student discount is available Sunday to Thursday, all year, including bank holidays. There are a few important exclusions to remember.
If you're planning to order takeaway, click and collect or delivery, check directly with Wagamama before relying on the discount.
For a midweek meal, the 20% discount makes Wagamama a more tempting option. A £14.90 chicken katsu comes down to £11.92, while a chilli chicken ramen drops from £16.40 to £13.12.
If you're eating in from Sunday to Thursday, the regular 20% deal is straightforward: verify once your student status is eligible, show your blue tick before paying, and enjoy the cheaper bill.
